Travelance Premier super visa insurance costs about $1,716 a year at 55, $3,030 at 65 and $6,161 at 75 with stable pre-existing conditions covered at $100,000 (rates seen October 2026). It qualifies for the super visa, is underwritten by Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada, and refunds a refused applicant with no fee. It is competitive under 60, expensive from 70, and useless for pre-existing conditions at 80 and over.

Who is Travelance, and who underwrites the policy?

Travelance Inc. is an Ontario travel insurance administrator that designs the Essential and Premier visitor plans and runs its own assistance centre. Both are underwritten by Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada, a Canadian-licensed subsidiary of the US Old Republic group, and claims are filed through Old Republic’s eClaims portal.

The certificate names Old Republic as the insurer, which satisfies the IRCC insurer rule. Assistance is 24/7 and multilingual at 1-888-526-0111, and failing to call within 24 hours of an emergency shifts 20 percent of eligible expenses to you.

SuperVisaDirect does not sell this plan. It is reviewed here for comparison; the plan sold on SuperVisaDirect is TuGo’s Visitors to Canada plan, underwritten by iA Financial Group, bought in three steps on the super visa page. The 2026 comparison shows both side by side.

Which Travelance plan do super visa parents need?

What are the stability rules for pre-existing conditions?

Premier covers conditions stable for 180 days before the start date to age 69. From 70 to 79 the same 180 days apply, but any heart, brain or lung condition present in that window is excluded outright. From 80 no pre-existing condition is covered.

Age on effective date Stability period (days) Pre-existing cover on Premier
15 days to 69 180 Stable conditions covered
70 to 79 180 Stable conditions covered, but heart, brain and lung conditions in prior 180 days excluded
80 to 85 — Not covered

No questionnaire is described, but the application lists disqualifiers: nursing home residence, home oxygen, untreated aneurysm, certain cancers, dialysis, transplant, congestive heart failure, terminal illness, or two or more listed conditions in the past 12 months. The heart, brain and lung carve-out at 70 is unusual and catches most hypertension and cardiac cases; see our pre-existing conditions guide.

What does Travelance cost?

Premier was the fourth-lowest of eight carriers at 55 in October 2026 but the second-most expensive at 75. Deductible discounts run to 45 percent, the largest available, and a family pays twice the eldest person’s premium.

How does the Travelance monthly plan work?

Plans of 90 days or more can be paid monthly. Two months’ premium is collected at application as a refundable deposit applied to the final two payments, plus a non-refundable billing fee that our fact sheet records at $60 to $100 and PolicyAdvisor at $60. Minimum coverage is $100,000.

Monthly plan term Detail
Deposit 2 months’ premium, refundable, applied to last two payments
Billing fee $60 (PolicyAdvisor); $60 to $100 (fact sheet), non-refundable
Minimum coverage $100,000
Minimum term 90 days
Lapse rule Two consecutive missed payments end coverage

What are the refund and cancellation rules?

A visa refusal is refunded with no administration fee on proof, requested within 30 days. Other cancellations before the start date carry a $250 fee; early return home or provincial coverage earns a partial refund less $50. A claim withdrawn after early return deducts prior payments plus a $250 file fee.

Situation Refund
Visa refused, proof supplied within 30 days Unused premium, no fee
10-day free look, coverage not started Full
Cancelled before start or trip not taken Less $250 fee, request within 30 days
Early return home, proof of return Partial, less $50 fee
Provincial coverage begins Partial, less $50 fee
Claim reported Generally none; withdrawn claim less payments and $250 file fee

What are the side-trip and coverage-area rules?

Side trips of up to 45 days each are covered if they start and end in Canada, avoid the home country, and leave more than 50 percent of covered days in Canada at claim time. Destinations under a Government of Canada “avoid non-essential travel” advisory are excluded. No excluded provinces are published.

Rule Term
Side trips Up to 45 days per trip, start and end in Canada, more than 50% of days in Canada
Home country Not covered
Travel advisories Excluded destinations
Provinces not served None stated
Extensions Allowed if no claim, policy in force, total stay within 558 days

What do reviews say about claims?

Travelance has no reviews on Trustpilot as of October 2026, so there is no public claims pattern. PolicyAdvisor rates the plan 4 out of 5, recommends it for buyers who want monthly payments, and says to skip it over 69 with pre-existing conditions. Claims must be submitted within 30 days of the expense with documents within 90 days.

Who is Travelance best for, and what should you watch for?

Travelance suits a parent under 60 with stable conditions who wants instalments, the highest repatriation limit and a fee-free refusal refund. It is the wrong plan for parents 70 and over with any cardiac, neurological or respiratory history, and for anyone 80 or older with conditions.

Best for Watch out for
Parents 55 to 59 on a monthly plan Second-most expensive at 75
Families wanting $16,000 repatriation and $10,000 drug limits Heart, brain and lung exclusion from 70
Fee-free refund if the visa is refused No pre-existing cover from 80
Cost-cutters using the 45% deductible discount $100,000 cap from 70; $250 fee on other cancellations

Travelance is not sold on SuperVisaDirect; see how it sits against the TuGo plan we sell in the 2026 comparison, or compare 21st Century and Secure Travel for monthly plans that hold up better after 70.

Questions people ask

Who underwrites Travelance super visa insurance?

Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of the US Old Republic group, underwrites both the Essential and Premier plans. Travelance Inc. designs and administers them from Ontario and runs the assistance centre. The certificate names Old Republic, a Canadian-licensed insurer, which is what IRCC needs.

Which Travelance plan qualifies for the super visa?

Both qualify at $100,000 for one year, but only Premier covers pre-existing conditions. Essential excludes all of them and has no accidental death benefit. The coverage ceiling is $150,000 to age 69 and $100,000 from 70 to 85, so a 72-year-old can buy exactly the IRCC minimum and no more.

How does the Travelance monthly plan work?

Plans of 90 days or more can be paid monthly: two months' premium is collected at application as a refundable deposit applied to the last two payments, plus a non-refundable billing fee that our fact sheet records at $60 to $100. Missing two consecutive payments ends the coverage. Minimum coverage is $100,000.

Does Travelance refund the premium if the super visa is refused?

Yes, and with no administration fee: the unused premium is returned on proof of refusal, requested within 30 days. Other cancellations before the start date carry a $250 fee, and early return home a $50 fee. A withdrawn claim deducts prior payments plus a $250 file fee. No refund is paid after a claim.

Is Travelance good for a parent over 70?

Usually not. Premier covers stable conditions from 70 to 79 but excludes any heart, brain or lung condition present in the prior 180 days, and from 80 excludes all pre-existing conditions. At 75 it was the second-most expensive of eight carriers in October 2026 at $6,161, and coverage is capped at $100,000.
