How buying super visa insurance on SuperVisaDirect works

Buying super visa insurance on SuperVisaDirect takes three steps: answer three questions about the parent; see one price for one policy, the TuGo Visitors to Canada Emergency Medical plan underwritten by iA Financial Group, with its fine print on the same card; and pay on TuGo's secure checkout. The certificate, IRCC proof letter and wallet card arrive the same day, and we handle start-date changes, renewals and claims support.

Buying super visa insurance on SuperVisaDirect takes about ten minutes and three steps. You answer three questions about the parent, see one price for one policy, and pay on the insurer’s secure checkout. The policy is the TuGo Visitors to Canada Emergency Medical plan, underwritten by iA Financial Group. The certificate and IRCC proof letter arrive by email the same day, and start-date changes, renewals and claims support are ours to handle. Nothing requires a phone call unless you want one.

Step 1: What details do we need to quote?

Three facts set the price: the parent’s date of birth, the planned arrival date in Canada, and the province where they will stay. We also ask whether any medical condition has changed recently, because that decides whether the standard stability period or the optional 7-day rider applies. You then choose a coverage amount and a deductible. IRCC requires at least $100,000 of emergency medical coverage per applicant, valid for at least one year from the date of entry.

Field Why it matters
Date of birth Age bands drive premium and set the pre-existing condition stability period
Arrival date Becomes the policy start date; can be moved while the visa is processed
Province Confirms we are licensed to serve you; Ontario today, other provinces in 2028
Recent change in a condition Decides whether the standard stability period applies or the 7-day rider is needed
Coverage amount ($) Minimum $100,000 per applicant under the IRCC document checklist
Deductible ($) Higher deductibles lower the premium; $0 is the most common choice for parents

You do not need the parent’s passport number or medical history at this stage. TuGo’s health questions, which apply at age 60 and over, come at checkout.

Step 2: One price, one policy

One plan card appears: the TuGo Visitors to Canada Emergency Medical plan (Comprehensive), underwritten by iA Financial Group, priced for the age, coverage amount and deductible you entered. The fine print that decides most claims sits on the same card, so there is nothing to hunt for before you pay.

On the card TuGo term
Price Annual premium for the coverage amount and deductible chosen; the same price as buying from TuGo direct
Underwriter iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.), the name IRCC checks on the certificate
Stability period at the parent’s age 90 days to 59; 120 days 60 to 69; 180 days 70 to 85; 365 days 86 and over
Refund if the visa is refused Full refund when you cancel before the start date and send the IRCC refusal letter
Cancellation otherwise Full refund within 10 days of purchase with no travel; after the start date, pro-rata less a $250 fee, only if no claim has been made
Deductible options $0, $150, $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000; $0 is the default
Issue Instant; certificate by email within minutes of payment

We sell one insurer’s plan on purpose. The TuGo Comprehensive plan meets every IRCC requirement, has no maximum age, offers a 7-day unstable-condition rider to age 79 for a condition that changed recently, and issues instantly at any hour. That combination lets us promise a same-day certificate for every age and most health histories without sending you to a second site.

It is not always the lowest price in the market, and we say so. The 2026 comparison shows every Canadian super visa plan’s price, stability period, refund rule and age limit, dated and sourced, so you can check the TuGo plan against the rest before you buy. Our cost page shows sample premiums by age.

Step 3: Buy on TuGo’s secure checkout

Payment happens on TuGo’s own secure checkout, not on SuperVisaDirect. Your card details go to the insurer that issues the policy and never pass through us. The amount is TuGo’s published premium, with our commission already inside it, so you pay the same as buying from the insurer.

Before checkout, TuGo’s application asks for the parent’s name as it appears on the passport, the host’s address in Canada and, for a parent aged 60 or over, a short health questionnaire. Answer the questionnaire with the parent on the phone or in the room. Inaccurate answers are the most common reason a claim is denied.

What happens after you pay?

Three documents arrive by email the same day: TuGo’s certificate naming iA Financial Group as the underwriter, a proof-of-insurance letter written for IRCC, and a wallet card with the 24-hour emergency assistance number. Forward the letter to the parent so they can upload it with the application and show it to the border officer on arrival.

Document What it is for Timing
Certificate of insurance Names the insured, the underwriter, the coverage amount and the dates; uploaded to IRCC Minutes after payment, any hour, any day
IRCC proof letter Plain-language letter matching the certificate to IRCC’s insurance rule Same email
Wallet card Policy number and the assistance line to call before treatment Same email

IRCC’s after you apply page confirms the parent must carry proof of insurance to show at entry. Keep the PDF on the parent’s phone and print one copy.

We handle the start date, the renewal and the claim

We handle start-date changes, renewals and claims support for every policy sold on SuperVisaDirect. Email or request a callback, and the same licensed advisor who sold the policy deals with TuGo for you. There is no separate call centre and no ticket queue.

Start-date changes are the most common request. IRCC processing times move month to month; immigration.ca’s tracker showed India at 70 days in September 2026 after 208 days in March 2026. Tell us the new arrival date before the policy starts and we move it with TuGo at no charge. Our super visa insurance page sets out the date-change rules.

Renewals: we email you 60 days before the policy ends. If the parent is still in Canada, we send the renewal price on the TuGo plan at the parent’s new age band, with the stability period that now applies, so there is no gap between the two terms.

Claims: the parent or you call the emergency assistance number on the wallet card first, before treatment where possible. We then help you gather the documents, follow up with TuGo and, if a claim is denied, explain the escalation path to the insurer’s complaints officer and OLHI.

What if you want to talk first?

Email [email protected] or request a callback. A licensed advisor will answer questions about a specific parent’s health history, a stay outside Ontario or a visa that has already been refused once. Our contact page lists what to have ready.

Nothing on the plan card is advice until you have spoken to an advisor. If the parent has a condition that is not stable, or is over 85, a ten-minute call usually saves a denied claim later. Start the three steps when you are ready.

Questions people ask

Do I need to call anyone to buy super visa insurance on SuperVisaDirect?

No. The TuGo plan is bought entirely online in about ten minutes. You answer three questions, read the plan card, answer TuGo's health questions where they apply (age 60 and over), and pay on TuGo's checkout. A licensed advisor is available by email or callback at every step if you want one, but it is optional.

Does SuperVisaDirect take my credit card?

No. Payment always happens on TuGo's secure checkout page, so your card details go to the insurer that issues the policy and never to us. The amount charged is the insurer's own premium. Our commission is paid by the insurer and is already included in that price.

How fast do I get the IRCC proof of insurance?

The TuGo plan is instant-issue. The certificate, the IRCC proof letter and the wallet card arrive by email within minutes of payment, at any hour on any day. If anything in the application needs a second look, a licensed advisor resolves it with TuGo the same business day and the documents follow by email.

What if my parent's visa is approved later than expected?

Tell us the new arrival date before the policy start date and we move it with TuGo at no charge. IRCC processing times vary by country and month, so almost every policy we sell is moved at least once. TuGo's date-change rules are on our super visa insurance page.

Can I buy if my parent is outside Canada?

Yes. You, the Canadian host, buy the policy from Ontario, and IRCC requires the parent to be outside Canada when applying. Enter the parent's details as they appear on the passport. The parent does not need a Canadian address, bank account or phone number for the purchase.

What happens if the super visa is refused?

TuGo refunds the full premium when you cancel before the policy start date and send the IRCC refusal letter. We file the refund request for you. The refund rule is shown on the plan card before you buy and explained in full on our refunds page.
