SuperVisaDirect is operated by Super Visa Direct Insurance Services, an independent insurance agency licensed in Ontario. We are paid by the insurer whose policy you buy, not by you. This page follows the six disclosure items in the CLHIA advisor disclosure reference document, and we give it to you in writing before any purchase.
Who is licensed, and by whom?
Super Visa Direct Insurance Services holds an Ontario life and accident-and-sickness insurance agency licence, number [FSRA-LICENCE], issued by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA). Its designated licensed agent, Cameron Hayes, holds an individual Ontario licence. You can verify any licence on FSRA’s public register.
| Advisor | Licence class | Jurisdiction |
|---|---|---|
| Cameron Hayes | Life and accident & sickness agent (designated licensed agent) | Ontario |
Visitor and super visa insurance is accident-and-sickness insurance. We currently serve Ontario residents. Other provinces are planned for 2028 as licensing is obtained. Quebec residents are not served.
Which companies do we represent?
We represent the insurers listed on our insurers we represent page. That page is the written list required by Ontario regulation and is updated as each contract is confirmed. It names the underwriter behind every brand, because the certificate must name the insurer, not the broker or claims administrator.
What is our relationship with those companies?
Super Visa Direct Insurance Services is an independent agency. No insurer owns any part of our business, and we own no part of any insurer. We have no exclusive contract that obliges us to place business with any single company.
Life insurance contracts are held through a managing general agency (MGA). The MGA processes applications and pays our commission on life products. It does not direct which insurer we recommend.
How are we paid?
We are paid a commission by the insurer when a policy is issued. For visitor and super visa insurance, the commission is a percentage of the premium, typically 15-35% depending on the insurer. It is paid by the insurer and is already included in the premium you see.
The price on SuperVisaDirect is the insurer’s own price. Buying direct from the insurer costs the same. We charge no fee, markup or service charge to clients, and we accept no payment from clients for arranging insurance.
For term life and critical illness insurance, we receive a first-year commission and smaller renewal commissions from the insurer, through the MGA, for as long as the policy stays in force.
Could we receive additional compensation?
Some insurers pay a higher commission rate once an agency reaches a volume threshold in a year. We may qualify for those rates. We do not accept travel incentives, gifts or bonuses tied to placing business with one insurer. We do not offer gifts, cash-back or referral rewards to clients.
What conflicts of interest exist, and how do we manage them?
The main conflict is that we represent one visitor insurer, TuGo, and earn a commission only when its plan is sold, so we have a financial interest in you buying that plan rather than one we do not sell. Ontario regulation requires written disclosure of any conflict with each recommendation. We manage it four ways:
- We publish a dated comparison of every Canadian super visa plan, and where the TuGo plan is not the lowest price we say so and show the gap.
- The plan card shows the stability period, refund rule and cancellation terms before you pay, and an advisor will tell you plainly when another insurer’s plan would fit the parent better, even though we cannot sell it.
- The advisor who serves you is the agency’s own licensed agent, not a commissioned third-party sales representative.
- Your advisor will tell you our commission on the plan if you ask.
A second conflict applies to life insurance: Super Visa Direct Insurance Services also arranges term life for super visa hosts. We disclose that relationship whenever we mention life insurance on this site.
Your right to ask for more information
You can ask your advisor for their licence number, the companies they are contracted with, how they are paid on the product you are considering and whether a conflict exists. We answer in writing within two business days. Email [email protected] or request a callback.
How to complain
If you believe an advisor has not acted in your interest, follow our complaints process. You can also contact FSRA directly, which reviews agent conduct but does not settle claim disputes.
Questions people ask
Does the commission make my super visa insurance more expensive?
No. The premium on SuperVisaDirect is the insurer's own published price, and the commission is paid out of that premium by the insurer. Buying the same plan directly from the insurer costs the same. There is no separate fee, markup or service charge from Super Visa Direct Insurance Services.
Do you earn more for recommending one insurer over another?
Commission rates vary by insurer, and some pay a higher rate once an agency reaches a volume threshold. We manage this by showing every plan we represent on the same comparison, sorted by the parent's needs, and by never hiding a lower-paying plan. You can ask an advisor what we earn on any plan.
Are you licensed to sell life insurance as well as travel insurance?
Yes. Super Visa Direct Insurance Services holds an Ontario life and accident-and-sickness agency licence, and its designated agent, Cameron Hayes, holds an individual licence. Visitor and super visa insurance falls under accident and sickness. We also arrange term life and critical illness insurance, which this disclosure covers as well.
What can I ask for under this disclosure?
You can ask your advisor for their licence number, the insurers they are contracted with, how they are paid on the product you are considering, and whether any conflict exists. We answer in writing within two business days. The right to ask follows the CLHIA advisor disclosure reference document.
